Reliability & Validity

The iEQ9 overcomes reliability and validity challenges associated with 'assessment-based approaches' to the Enneagram by combining the adaptive power of technology with best practice statistical approaches.

The iEQ9 achieves high reliability and reduces mistyping through an intelligent design that accesses underlying motivation, cross-tests and validates potential typing and mistyping, and draws on adaptive testing to zoom in and pinpoint type to a 95% accuracy. We track and analyse all reported cases of mistyping and continue to work to improve our instruments.

Validity

We measure and test the validity of the iEQ9 robustly across a number of dimensions, enabling us to measure Enneagram type within a 95% confidence interval, backed by qualitative and quantitative data. We draw on feedback from global Enneagram thought leaders, data and independent research studies into the Enneagram constructs, detailed analytics, test panels and large global sample groups, cross-referencing with other typing methods and research partnerships.

Reliability

We have determined test-retest reliability with statistically significant samples for the measurement of Enneagram type. Our built-in reliability measures, included in the Coaching Companion, help you determine the reliability of the results of each candidate on a test by test individual basis and adapt your approach accordingly.

We report on five individual reliability measures in the results of each questionnaire, including consistency of responses, honesty self-reporting, duration of testing indicators, level of integration versus 'faking good' and cross-referencing overlaid models of harmonic/hornevian styles.
